Jacksonville woman honored for video showing Down syndrome no obstacle

Moira Rossi had a message to share: Having a disability doesn't mean giving up your dreams.

And that message has reached a lot of people, including one of the stars of an Emmy Award-winning television drama.
 
Wielding her video camera with heartfelt honesty, the 24-year-old Jacksonville woman with Down syndrome showed what some might consider an obstacle is really inspiration in disguise.

Infants with Down Syndrome / Research Participants

The University of Miami is doing research for 3 to 9-month-old infants with Down syndrome to explore how infants respond to their  mothers' singing. Participants for the study are needed. Total participation involves a one-hour appointment on the Coral Gables campus. Mothers receive a $25 Target gift card and free infant consultation.

Free Dance Class for Special Needs Students

Special needs students can attend a once weekly free dance class offered by Karen Peterson and Dancers. Ages 13-22 years are welcome every Thursday 4-5 p.m. through Dec 9th at the Excello Dance Space.
